Things to Do

in Geneva & the Finger Lakes

We’re so excited to celebrate with you in Geneva! Since many of you will be traveling to the Finger Lakes, we hope you’ll take a little time before or after the wedding to explore this beautiful area that we’re so lucky to have nearby.

Explore Downtown Geneva

Downtown Geneva is charming, historic, and easy to explore on foot. Walk along South Main Street to see Geneva’s beautiful historic homes and colorful row houses, then make your way toward the heart of downtown.

A few places worth checking out:

Linden Street

This brick-lined street is one of our favorite places to wander. In the evening, parts of Linden Street are often closed to traffic, creating a lively pedestrian area filled with restaurants, wine and cocktail bars, outdoor dining, and live entertainment.

Smith Opera House

A Geneva landmark dating back to 1894, The Smith hosts concerts, movies, performances, and other events throughout the year.

South Main Street & the Historic Row Houses

Take a leisurely walk past some of Geneva’s beautiful historic architecture and colorful “Rainbow Row.” It’s an especially pretty area for photos and a great way to get a feel for Geneva.

Wine & Cocktails

You don’t have to leave downtown to enjoy Finger Lakes wine! Grab a glass and explore some of Geneva’s wine bars and tasting rooms, or settle in for cocktails on Linden Street.

Enjoy Seneca Lake

Geneva sits at the northern end of Seneca Lake. Take a walk along the waterfront or relax at Seneca Lake State Park, which features a swimming beach, a large water splash pad, a playground, and a picnic area.

Visit the Wineries

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is one of the area’s biggest attractions, with dozens of wineries and vineyards along the lake. Some favorites near Geneva include Belhurst Castle & Winery, Three Brothers Wineries & Estates and Ventosa Vineyards.

Visit a Brewery

Wine isn’t the only thing being made around here! Geneva and the surrounding Finger Lakes have a great selection of local craft breweries.

Lake Drum Brewing is right in downtown Geneva and makes an easy stop while exploring downtown. Head to Watershed Brewing Company, a farm brewery overlooking Seneca Lake. Brewery Ardennes offers Belgian-inspired beers along with a farm-to-table restaurant, while Big aLICe Brewing and WeBe Brewing are great casual options for local beer and outdoor fun. War Horse Brewing Company at Three Brothers Wineries & Estates lets you sample local beer, wine and cider all in one stop.

Cheese Tasting

Head to Muranda Cheese Company to enjoy a guided tasting of their locally made cheeses, grab a glass of Finger Lakes wine or cider, and relax on the covered deck overlooking the farm. During the summer, Muranda also hosts live music on weekend afternoons, making it a fun and laid-back way to spend a few hours in the Finger Lakes.
